Old Fashioned Recipe

The Old Fashioned, a venerable concoction steeped in tradition and sophistication, is a libation that wears its history like a well-tailored suit. Born in the early 19th century, it emerged from the primordial soup of cocktail culture as a simple, yet potent blend of bourbon, sugar, bitters, and a splash of water. Its moniker, "Old Fashioned," speaks volumes about its refusal to succumb to passing fads and trends, preferring instead to remain steadfast in its timeless elegance.

Legend has it that the Old Fashioned was the brainchild of a Kentucky gentleman who desired a drink that honored the pure essence of bourbon—a spirit as rich in heritage as it is in flavor. Over the years, it has evolved, adapting to the changing tastes of its imbibers, yet never straying too far from its roots.

When crafting this venerable libation, one must be discerning in the choice of bourbon. Opt for top-shelf selections like Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve, Blanton's Single Barrel, or Woodford Reserve's Master's Collection. These bourbons, with their complex flavors and smooth finishes, elevate the Old Fashioned from a mere drink to a transcendent experience.

Here’s to tradition, history, and the enduring allure of the Old Fashioned—a cocktail that never goes out of style, cheers!
